Putney Music Festival
Festival
Stuck in Putney over boat race weekend but just about sick of rowing? Don’t despair, you can escape from Oxford/Cambridge mania by getting involved with the Putney Music Festival.
Pubs, clubs and restaurants will all be getting involved with the popular festival with three days of great live music of all kinds of genres. Venues such as La Noche, Nandos, Fez, Bar M and, of course, The Half Moon will all be getting in on the act with DJs, bands and special shows. So whether you want to chill with your meal or rock the casbah there’s something musical to suit.
Highlights of the festival include Half Moon regulars The Hamsters with their Blues rock set, Swingin’ Jazz Willie at the Boathouse for an afternoon of swing overlooking the river and the Mariachi shows at La Noche. If you’re headed out for a romantic meal try Del Bungustaio, where you can enjoy live jazz while you eat in traditional Italian surroundings.
Even your Saturday shopping will be cheered up with some quality tunes, the Exchange shopping centre plays host to Kiskadee, a steel band duo here to bring a little bit of Summer to South West London, while Starbucks is coupling coffee with classics from Francesco Coghitto.
For musical fun with friends we highly recommend the Coat and Badge, who will be hosting a BBQ on Sunday, accompanied by live jazz (just get their early if you don’t want to miss out) or Friday’s Salsa evening at Holmes Place, which is open even to non members. For the town’s dancers there’s treats at the Slug and Lettuce, The Fez Club and The Litten Tree all of whom are calling in the area’s top DJs for nights of classic, modern, party and hardcore hits.
